In a new scientific achievement added to the record of research excellence at Benha University, Professor Mahmoud El-Sayed won the International Publication and Citation Competition – July 2026 cycle, in recognition of his distinguished scientific contributions in the field of international research and publication.

This achievement comes within the framework of Benha University's commitment to supporting the scientific research system and encouraging faculty members to publish in prestigious international scientific journals, and to enhance the citations of scientific research, which contributes to raising the university's research standing and strengthening its presence in international rankings.

Professor Mohamed Nabhan, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Benha University, confirmed that Dr. Mahmoud El-Sayed's win represents an important addition to the faculty's record of achievements, and reflects the distinguished level of researchers and faculty members, as well as the faculty's commitment to supporting and encouraging scientific production and international publication.

This achievement comes as part of the university's ongoing support for scientific research, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and with the follow-up of Professor Dr. Gihan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, within the framework of the university's strategy to enhance the quality of scientific research and increase international publication and citation rates.

This accomplishment underscores the Faculty of Sports Sciences' continued commitment to maintaining a distinguished scientific and research presence, and supports the efforts of faculty members and researchers, thereby strengthening the standing of the faculty and the university at both the local and international levels.

Benha University Hospitals announced the results of its medical and service performance during the period from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026, which revealed that 1,633,616 citizens benefited from various medical, therapeutic and diagnostic services, reflecting the extent of the role played by the hospitals in serving the people of Qalyubia Governorate and neighboring governorates.
Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, affirmed that university hospitals represent one of the most important arms of the university in serving the community, noting that the university places the support and development of hospitals at the top of its priorities, by working to provide the necessary capabilities, expanding medical services and specialized fields, and raising the efficiency of the infrastructure, equipment and medical supplies.
The university president explained that the indicators achieved during the year reflect the extent of the efforts made by the medical, nursing, technical and administrative staff, stressing the university’s continued support for development and modernization plans, in order to ensure the provision of distinguished health services to citizens, in addition to the educational, training and research role of hospitals in preparing and qualifying medical personnel.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Al-Ashhab, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, confirmed that the figures achieved by the hospitals during the year reflect the continuous work carried out by the medical teams in various departments and specialties, noting that the hospitals witnessed during the past period an expansion in the provision of medical, diagnostic and surgical services, while being keen to improve the quality of service provided to patients.
He added that the hospital administration is working to support medical departments and specialized fields, develop the diagnostic and treatment system, and raise the efficiency of medical and nursing staff, while continuing to improve the patient experience and facilitate access to services, stressing that Benha University hospitals combine the provision of specialized health care, medical education, clinical training and scientific research.
Dr. Amr El-Dakhakhni, Executive Director of Benha University Hospitals, said that the performance indicators during the year reflect the volume of services provided by the hospitals daily, explaining that the total number of beneficiaries reached 1,633,616 beneficiaries, including 265,472 cases in outpatient clinics and children, 238,181 cases in reception and emergency, and 37,343 cases in internal departments.
Al-Dakhakhni added that the hospitals conducted 604,323 medical analyses and 230,620 radiology cases, in addition to 184,650 electrocardiograms and 1,108 brain scans. 21,223 surgical operations were also performed, and 5,361 cases were received for endoscopy of the digestive system and various specialties, in addition to providing specialized services to 9,996 tumor cases and 9,572 cases in clinics and central and specialized departments.
He pointed out that the hospitals provided dialysis services to 3,284 adult patients and 612 children, in addition to caring for 1,179 infants in incubators, stressing that the continuation of these rates is a result of continuous work and coordination between the various medical and administrative sectors, and the hospital administration’s keenness to raise operational efficiency and improve the quality of services provided to patients.

Professor Dr. Gihan Abdelhadi, Vice President of Benha University for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that under the patronage of Professor Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, the Technical Committee for Examining the Scientific Production of Faculty Members Published in Internationally Classified Scientific Journals announced the results of the International Publication and Citation Competition for the July 2026 session, which comes within the framework of improving the outputs of scientific research at the university and encouraging faculty members to publish their research in international scientific journals.
The university's vice president added that during this session, a total of (594) scientific papers were submitted to the international publication competition, distributed across 13 faculties: Agriculture, Commerce, Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Physical Therapy, Science, Engineering (Benha), Engineering (Shubra), Arts, Sports Sciences, Nursing, and Applied Arts. Of these, (294) papers were ranked Q1, representing 49.5% of the total submitted papers, indicating the high quality of the university's scientific research output. The number of Q2 papers increased to (165), in addition to (70) Q3 papers and (38) Q4 papers.
She noted that this course included a book and 10 chapters from books published by international publishing houses. Additionally, (157) faculty members submitted their work to the Citations competition through Google Scholar. It is worth mentioning that the appeals process will be open for one week from the date of publication of the results of the applicant review on the university website, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026. Any appeal lacking this information will not be considered. The final results will be announced again after the appeals period ends, and any appeals received after this deadline will not be considered.
It should be noted that applicants will be placed on a blacklist and barred from receiving university research support program awards if: 1- Their Google Scholar account contains research not authored by them. 2- They submit incorrect information or research for which they have already received financial rewards in previous cycles. 3- They submit a blank declaration or one that does not include all research participants from within the university, with the stipulation that the research participants must be postgraduate students enrolled in Master's and Doctoral programs at Benha University and not faculty members or their assistants.
A copy of the declaration is attached at the end of the announcement. Adherence to the attached declaration is mandatory. Important note: The university's decision will be strictly enforced, requiring the citation of at least two references from research published in various issues of Benha University journals as a prerequisite for submitting research for the International Publication Award (for the January/July cycles) each year. This will be implemented starting with the January 2027 cycle, applying to research published after July 2026.
